Paint Brand and Quality
- Brand Used: Most of our paints are Universal Basecoat paints, known for their high quality and adaptability to various painting needs.
- Freshness and Customization: Each order is custom mixed, ensuring that the paint is fresh, which leads to better coverage and a more effective repair. This process, along with direct delivery to your doorstep, justifies the price point by offering convenience and quality.
Product FAQs
Q: Why is your paint more expensive than others?
- A: Our paints might be priced higher because each order is custom mixed, ensuring optimal freshness. Fresh paint provides better results for repairs. Additionally, we deliver directly to your door, saving you the time and effort of obtaining the paint elsewhere.
Q: How long will the paint last?
- A: The durability of our paint products varies by type:
- Paint Pens: Can last up to two years if stored in a cool, dry place. Exposure to heat and sun can cause the paint to evaporate quickly if the cap is left off.
- Brush Cap Bottles: These have a similar shelf life to paint pens and also require storage in cool, dry conditions to prevent the paint from spoiling due to heat.
- Spray Cans: Generally last several years. We include extra nozzles with our spray cans as the nozzles may clog if not cleaned after use.
- Larger Sizes (Pints, Quarts, Gallons): These can remain effective for several years if unopened. Once opened, the quality will gradually degrade over the years.
Q: How should I store the paint?
- A: Store all paint types in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid storing paint in areas like a car’s glove box where temperatures can accelerate degradation.
Rubbing Compound FAQs
Rubbing compounds are used to enhance the shine of clearcoats and address minor surface imperfections. Here are answers to some frequently asked questions about our rubbing compound:
- Is the rubbing compound compatible with my clearcoat and paint?
- Yes, our rubbing compound is compatible with all types of clearcoats and paints provided the finish is fully dry. For safety, test the compound on a small, inconspicuous area of your vehicle first.
- Will the rubbing compound leave swirl marks?
- Yes, applying the rubbing compound with a machine can leave swirl marks. However, these can be removed using a finer polishing compound, which smooths out the finer imperfections left by the rubbing compound.
- Will the rubbing compound dull the existing finish?
- The rubbing compound will only dull the finish if applied incorrectly. Always use an old, clean cotton T-shirt for application — never terry cloth, shop rags, or paper towels, as they can scratch the surface. Ensure the T-shirt is free from debris to avoid scratching the paint.
- What is the difference between your rubbing compound and store-bought versions?
- Our rubbing compound is a medium-duty compound, which is less aggressive than the heavy-duty compounds typically available in stores. Heavy-duty compounds are more abrasive and can dull new paint instead of polishing it to a shine.
- What should I do if the area I compounded is dull and looks scratched?
- Dullness and scratching from compounding typically occur due to using incorrect application materials. To correct this, apply a polishing compound, which acts like a very fine liquid sandpaper, to remove the scratches and restore the shine.
